Brian Napont from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians was on hand to present the school district, the City of Boyne City and the Boyne City Free Clinic with their two percent grant distribution awards.
Fourth grade students from teacher Rebecca Wildman’s class gave an outstanding demonstration of the Smart Board technology skills they are using in class. The technology is available on a trial basis as a result of a grant award received by the district.

Curriculum & Program Items
The annual Sixth Grade Camp Program will take place again this spring. Boyne City students will visit Camp Daggett on June 2, 3, and 4 with part of the cost coming from the general fund and students making up the rest of the fees.
Agenda Action Items
The Board of Education approved the evaluation of Superintendent Bob Alger. A synopsis of their evaluation comments from a special meeting moderated by Mike Washburn was presented. The evaluation comments are now part of his personnel file.
Discussion Items
Mr. Jamie Woodall from Genesis Church in Petoskey gave a presentation describing the core values of their program and asked the district to allow Genesis Church to conduct worship services on Sunday morning starting in the fall in the elementary gym and cafeteria. There was plenty of discussion as the request relates to Board Policy KG, “Use of School Facilities” leaving a number of questions unanswered. Mr. Woodall was asked to meet with Superintendent Alger to work out some of the unknown details and bring the request back to the board during their regular March meeting.
The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 8 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Early Childhood Education Center (old Middle school) and the public is welcome.
